Problem-Solving, Planning and Creativity - Workshop
This workshop covers the essential components for all staff, supervisors, team leaders and managers to be able to recognize, understand and solve problems that exist within their workplace.
Anyone can act on a plan, but only the right plan will resolve a situation, solve a problem or achieve an objective. The two biggest mistakes staff make are first attempting to address a problem without understanding the root cause, and second, not recognizing that a problem that needs to be resolved even exists.
The dynamic format combines extensive participant interaction, group work, and an in-depth lecture to transfer the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively deal with real world problem situations.
This program looks at problem-solving from a bottom-up perspective. It examines a variety of strategies for identifying problems, understanding the root causes of the problem, and identifying new ideas that can resolve the problem.
Topics covered in this workshop include:
- Observing a situation and understanding the impact,
- Describing the problem and the impact,
- Applying a root cause(s) analysis,
- Using creative thinking strategies,
- Using critical thinking to select the best options,
- Creating a plan to resolve the problem,
- Implementing the plan.
Learning outcomes for this workshop include:
- Demonstrating the ability to recognize potential problems in advance,
- Identifying the problem impact on the staff and organization,
- Using a root cause analysis strategy to identify the real cause(s) of the problem,
- Applying creative thinking strategies to overcome the problem,
- Deciding on a plan of action that resolves the described problem,
- Implementing the plan with the support of your team and the organization.
